Frédéric Chopin composed his Nocturnes, Op. 9, between 1830 and 1832, with their publication in the latter year. Dedicated to Madame Camille Pleyel, these pieces have since become essential repertoire for pianists. The Nocturne No. 1 in B-flat minor, marked *larghetto*, features a rhythmically free right-hand melody, foreshadowing Chopin's later stylistic traits. The Nocturne No. 2 in E-flat major offers a reflective and serene melody that recurs, each time with increasing ornamentation.
